Received Newport County Fund Grant of $18,000 over two years to enhance after school programs.
30 high school students serve as mentors to elementary school students referred for social skills training.
Conducted three training sessions for parents. Topics included adolescent development, inhalant use and positive discipline.
Prevention presentations made to students in Grade 10, 11 and 12.
Co-Sponsored Common Ground Café, a substance free evening of entertainment for high school students.
Supported SADD presentations to 9th grade health classes.
Prevention efforts shift to Environmental Strategies with outcomes measured in terms of "population-level" change.
Identified several priority prevention needs in the community, including prevention skills training for parents of elementary school students; prevention of bullying among middle school students; behavior modification presentations for high school students; enhancing peer mentoring initiatives; and expanding after school programs.
Initiated Pass It Up, a program in which high school students work with middle school students to reinforce and improve decision-making skills.
Tiverton Substance Abuse Prevention Task Force officially changes its name to Tiverton Prevention Coalition.
Sponsored Peer Helping Network Retreat with discussion focused on developing strategies to prevent substance abuse.
Town of Tiverton institutes the Juvenile Hearing Board.
Grant received for high school students to develop video about dangers of tobacco use.
Received $90,000, three-year Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws Grant. Underage drinking identified as a problem statewide.
Annual Youth Health and Wellness Survey administered to Tiverton students in grades 7-12 for first time.
New Coalition website, www.tivertonprevention.org, is launched.
Drug Free Communities Grant award received ( $625,000 Oct 2011-Sept 2016)
Marijuana and Rx Drug Block Grant received ($189,000 Nov 2011-Oct 2014)
Monthly e-newsletter, Coalition News, established.
Breathalyzer policy passed for Tiverton High School.
Town Hall Meeting on Underage Drinking hosted for community members.
Clergy Breakfast hosted; Handbook created to engage faith communities in prevention.
